Social & Community Participation with NDIS

The Significance of Social and Community Participation

  1. Enhanced Well-being: Participating in social and community activities is a cornerstone of mental and emotional well-being.

  2. Developing Social Skills: Our approach recognises the importance of skill development through social interactions. Whether it's teamwork, communication, or fostering friendships, engaging in community settings facilitates personal growth and social confidence.

  3. Community Integration: We strive to break down barriers and promote inclusivity. Active involvement in community life not only fosters a sense of belonging but also contributes to building bridges between individuals with disabilities and the community.

How Pathway Links Supports Social and Community Participation Through the NDIS

Support to engage in social and community activities within the community falls under Social and Community Participation within the NDIS. This is one of the four funded categories under Core Supports. When it's considered reasonable and necessary to meet your goals, participants can use this funding to cover the support required to travel to and attend activities or events in the community.

This may involve a disability support worker providing you assistance with:

  • Accessing the community

  • Attending appointments and events

  • Participating in personal development courses

  • Connecting with social groups

  • Planning an outing or holiday

  • Shopping
